ABU CATALOGUES '70 '71 '72

The catalogues for the years 1970, 71 and 72 for the seminal Swedish fishing tackle manufacturer ABU.  A rarified read which will take you into a world halfway between Narnia and Nowhere.  A sort of offshore Arcadia, a magical place populated by blondes in headscarves, modernist architecture, men in waders on wooden jetties with glazed looks in their eyes, large char, glacial rivers and endless dreams.  Will only get wierder and more beautiful as the decade progresses.

Tight Lines.

ABU CATALOGUES '73 '74 '75

The Abu Catalogues for the years 1973 to '75, the first years that the format transferred to landscape and gave vent to a form of illustration inspired by six months of daylight, six months of darkness and a lot of mushroom tea.  Especially in 1973.  The people of northern Europe loved Abu and sent their photographs in to be included in the spirit of today's Satorialist or yesterday's i-D.   Some are shown here from Mr Hockney-Elf and his smoker to the Abu Shoreline Maiden.

ABU CATALOGUES '76

A pair of Abu Catalogues for 1976, one version in English and the other in Swedish.  Things have calmed down on the illustration front with the cover image being trusted to a John Scott for a spot of pike fishing in a post apocalyptic landscape.
