Army & Navy Stores Victoria Street London SW1: 3 1/4ins. Alloy Trout Reel c. 1939
An Army & Navy of London 3 1/4ins. Alloy Trout Reel dating from the late 1930's. Stamped to the back plate 'A & N. Stores Ltd Victoria St. London S.W.1.' The Army & Navy Co-operative Society changed their name to Army & Navy Stores Ltd in 1934 having been a co-operative society since their inception in 1871.
This reel retains some of its original finish and is in very good overall condition with a working check, good straight brass foot, milled centre screw nut and almost untouched Xylonite handle. With no evidence of any line burn to the pillars and tight check it would make a great user.
Army & Navy of London: 3ins. Hand Engraved Alloy Trout Reel c. 1920's
A hand engraved Army & Navy Co-operative Society Ltd 3ins. Alloy Trout Reel dating from the 1920's perhaps even earlier. The face plate is hand engraved with the legend 'Army & Navy C P Ltd'. ANCP Ltd became the Army & Navy Stores Ltd in 1934 having been a Co-operative Society prior to this since its inception in 1871.
The reel retains much of its original finish but is worn through use and has a slightly bent foot as shown in the photographs. The check sticks in one place but this would still make a user for an unfussy angler wishing to live in the years before 1934.
